Montu says, "If Pintu and I each have a dog, then exactly one of Bantu and Chantu has a dog."
Bantu says, "If Chantu and I each have a cat, then exactly one of Montu and Pintu has a dog."
Chantu says, "If Montu and I each have a dog, then exactly one of Bantu and Pintu has a cat."
Pintu says, "If Bantu and I each have a cat, then exactly one of Bantu and I has a dog."
Only one of the four is telling the truth. Who is telling the truth?

since we don't how many pets each person has, or whether they have somethingelse like a fish, we can't tell who is lying and who is telling the truth. this question is horrible. Paul T - 12 Apr, 2002 |

I think its pintu.
No info is given about Mintu and Chintu so no lie can have been made about them. The obvious is quite cunningly stated about Pintu and Bantu, that is they both have either a cat or a dog which is true since everyone of them has a pet.vishal luther - 13 Apr, 2002 |

I believe Chantu is telling the truth. I made four columns listing each name in a column. Then under each name I listed the animal that they stated they did have.
